ServicesUrgent Roof Repair
Urgent Roof Repair in Los Alamitos
When a falling limb punctures the deck, wind peels back shingles or tiles slide loose before the next rain, we cover the opening to keep water out first. Then we return to repair the roof correctly, with a plain account of what failed and why.

Stop the water now, fix the roof properly next
Sudden roof damage is really two jobs. The first is temporary: a tarp fastened over the opening, a patch of self-adhering membrane, or broken tiles pulled and the gap sealed so the underlayment stays dry. The second is the permanent repair, done once the deck has dried out and we can see how far the damage actually goes.
Splitting the work this way matters. New shingles nailed over wet plywood trap the moisture, and within a season the sheathing can delaminate or start growing mold. A proper temporary cover buys time to do the repair right, and it keeps water out of your ceiling drywall and attic insulation while you wait.
Many homes in Los Alamitos have concrete tile over aging felt underlayment or a second layer of composition shingles. We know what tends to be hiding under both, so the permanent repair is planned for the roof you really have.
What the work includes
A tarp that stays put
We run the tarp up and over the ridge and fasten it with wood battens screwed down along the edges, not sandbags or loose nails. Wind can't get underneath it, and we place fasteners where the holes will be covered or sealed in the permanent repair.
Debris and broken material cleared
Branches, cracked tiles and torn shingles come off the roof and out of the gutters. Left in place, they dam water against the roof surface and tear the tarp as they shift.
Deck and sheathing check
We walk the damaged area and probe the plywood or older skip sheathing for soft spots. Wet or broken decking is marked for replacement instead of being covered over.
The water path inside
From the attic we trace stains back to the entry point, which is often a few feet upslope from the drip. You'll know whether the insulation or drywall below needs to dry out or be replaced.
The permanent repair
Damaged decking, underlayment, flashing and roofing are replaced and tied into the existing roof so laps shed water the right direction. When the scope calls for a permit, we pull it.
Photos for your claim
We photograph the damage before anything is covered and as the repair goes in. We work directly with your insurance claim, so those photos and our written estimate are ready for your adjuster.

When your roof can't wait
- Water dripping from a ceiling
- Water coming from drywall seams, a light fixture or a vent grille has already made it through the roofing and the deck. Shut off power to any fixture that's wet.
- Daylight on the attic insulation
- Dots or lines of sunlight on the insulation show a direct opening from outdoors to the framing. Rain will follow that same path, most often through a puncture or a missing piece of roofing.
- Shingles gone or tiles out of place
- After a hard wind, check for bare spots, shingle tabs on the lawn or tiles that have slipped out of line. Uncovered underlayment wears out fast under sun and rain.
- A branch or debris hit the roof
- A limb that just glanced off can still crack tiles or split the deck beneath. Impact damage usually reaches farther than it appears from the yard.
- A ceiling that sags or bulges
- Drywall that bows down is carrying water and could collapse. Keep everyone out from beneath it and put a bucket under the lowest spot.
What happens on a repair visit
- 1
Your call
We ask where water is coming in, what your roof is made of and whether any ceiling is sagging. Then we book your free roof inspection and explain what to do until we get there.
- 2
Covering the opening
Our crew removes debris, records the damage and puts on the tarp or temporary seal. We keep the ground and walkways free of nails and broken pieces.
- 3
Inspection and estimate
With the roof protected, we check the decking, underlayment and flashing around the damaged area. Your free written estimate lists every part of the permanent repair.
- 4
The lasting fix
Once the deck is dry and the weather cooperates, we replace the damaged layers, take off the tarp and seal its fastener holes. Before we go, the yard is cleaned up and swept with a magnet.
What changes the price
In your free written estimate, the temporary cover and the permanent repair appear as separate lines. The total depends on what turns up once the damaged material is removed, and we show you that before the scope changes. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.
- How much damage and what kind
- A handful of torn shingles is a minor fix. A hole through the deck calls for new sheathing, underlayment and roofing across that spot.
- What your roof is covered with
- Concrete and clay tile need more labor, since nearby tiles have to come up and go back down, and finding older profiles can take a while. Composition shingles blend in faster.
- Condition below the surface
- Soaked plywood, rotted skip sheathing or brittle original felt must be replaced rather than covered. We can only see all of it once the roofing is opened.
- Slope, reach and weather
- Steep roofs, two-story eaves and narrow side yards mean more safety setup and more time. Rain can also delay the permanent repair until the deck has dried.
What people ask about urgent repairs
- Is this covered by my homeowners policy?
- Damage that happens all at once, from wind or a tree coming down, is often covered, while old leaks and wear typically are not. That decision is your adjuster's. We work directly with your insurance claim with dated photos and a written estimate, and the temporary cover gets its own line so the adjuster can spot it easily. Give us a call and we'll go over what your claim needs.
- How long is a tarp good for?
- A tarp held down with battens can last weeks, but sunlight breaks it down and it does not replace a roof. We schedule the permanent repair once the deck dries out and any claim permits.
- Can I get up there and cover the damage myself?
- Please don't. Wet shingles and tile are slick, weakened decking can collapse, and loose tiles snap when stepped on. Until we arrive, the safer task is catching water indoors and moving your things out of the way.
- Will the repair match the tile or shingles I have?
- In most cases. We save the undamaged tiles from the area and find matching profiles or colors. When an exact match can't be had, we go over the choices with you before anything goes on.
- Will I have to replace the whole roof?
- Usually not. Most wind and impact damage is handled with a repair in one area. If the inspection shows the roof as a whole is close to worn out, we'll tell you and explain what a roof replacement involves so you can weigh both.
